All-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin has decided not to join the upcoming ‘A’ team’s tour of Pakistan. He mentioned feeling exhausted and asked for a two-month break from all cricket Bangladesh.

Saifuddin was picked for the second four-day match of a two-match series, along with three one-day matches against Pakistan ‘A’. Earlier this month, he sent an email to the selectors needing time off, according to an official from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

In his, Saifuddin shared his disappointment over not making it to the ICC T20 World Cup squad in June. He also mentioned how he couldn’t go to Canada for the ongoing Global T20 due to the unrest there.

He wrote, “Because of these issues, I want to stay away from all cricket for the next two months. I hope you see this positively.”

Interestingly, Saifuddin didn’t talk about a rib injury he got while working out in Mirpur just two days before his flight to Canada back in late July. He was set to play for the Montreal Tigers in the GT20 and had gotten a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from BCB that lasted until August 8. After that, he was supposed to meet up with the ‘A’ team in Pakistan.

BCB physiotherapist Muzadded Sany said

BCB physiotherapist Muzadded Sany said that Saifuddin felt the injury after gym training and reached out to the BCB medical team as the pain didn’t go away. Dr. Debashish Chowdhury, who is the chief physician at BCB, assessed him and provided treatment advice. He pointed out how serious the pain was and mentioned concerns over a long economy-class flight affecting his recovery, which led BCB to suggest he not travel to Canada.

According to The Daily Star’s report, Saifuddin’s recent letter has left selectors frustrated since he missed most practice sessions with the Bangladesh Tigers last month in Sylhet and Chattogram.

An unnamed official remarked that he only showed up for nine days of training in Sylhet and four days in Chattogram during what was supposed to be a 45-day camp. He left early from Chattogram, saying he needed to go to a biometric appointment for his Canada visa.

Earlier on, he had taken time off due to family matters before Eid and later asked for an extension because of a family emergency, which was granted. The official ended by expressing worry about Saifuddin’s current unwillingness toward cricket.
