Ahmed Shehzad Critiques PCB After Ashwin’s Comments on Pakistan Cricket
Recently, Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shehzad shared his thoughts about the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), prompted by comments from Indian bowler Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin, who talked about how Pakistan cricket isn’t doing as well now compared to before, sparked an intense reply from Shehzad. He questioned the PCB’s recent efforts and whether they’re really helpful.
Ashwin’s Surprised Take on Pakistan Cricket
Ravichandran Ashwin is known for speaking his mind. He expressed surprise about where Pakistan cricket stands today. On his YouTube channel, he looked back at great teams from Pakistan led by Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan. A decade ago, teams found it tough to beat them! “Keeping all this aside, Pakistan cricket, to see where it is right now, it wasn’t possible 10 years ago with Misbah, Younis Khan, even when they used to play in UAE. Back then, it was very tough to beat Pakistan, right?” Ashwin said.
His words pointed to a decline in the strength of Pakistani cricket when compared to its glorious past.
Shehzad’s Sarcastic Retort
Ahmed Shehzad reacted sharply to Ashwin’s thoughts. He took to social media and questioned why Ashwin was shocked about how things are in Pakistan cricket now. “Why are you surprised, Ashwin? Don’t worry, everything is fine here. Can’t you see that stadiums are being built over here? Continuous digging is being done. Don’t be surprised at all,” he wrote. He seemed to imply that just building stadiums doesn’t help the team do better in games.
Shehzad also poked fun at the PCB’s plans like the Champions One-Day Cup, saying these moves didn’t seem to make any real impact. “Are you not seeing that Pakistan is organizing a cup? Just wait and watch the number of players who come out of this tournament. How we get a bunch of fast bowlers and produce players. Are you not seeing this? Why are you surprised, Ravi?” he added. This shows his doubts about whether these efforts would bring real change.
Critique of PCB & Team Performance
Shehzad didn’t hold back when talking about the PCB’s role and how the team performed lately. He pointed out that they failed to qualify for the Super 8s in the 2024 T20 World Cup and mentioned problems like team cliques and some players not doing well.
It’s not a big issue, Ravi, so please don’t worry,” Shehzad concluded. His comments showed he was unhappy with everything going on.
The Bigger Picture
Shehzad’s words reveal a larger problem within Pakistan cricket today. Even with new stadiums and more tournaments planned, their performance hasn’t been stable lately, leading many to voice their concerns. The PCB wants to improve cricket in Pakistan but has struggled to meet people’s expectations for quick results.
Ashwin’s insights combined with Shehzad’s reactions highlight many complicated issues in Pakistani cricket today. The big difference between their past success and current difficulties shows how hard it can be for authorities to keep things going well over time.
As they face these challenges head-on, it will be important for the PCB to consider what players and experts are saying seriously. They can’t just fix infrastructure; real upgrades on the field matter too!
